Dominique Ansel Bakery has a variety of fun new sweets on offer, including "Oden Cake" and blooming "Hot Chocolate"!

Nov 8, 2016

Starting November 5th, DOMINIQUE ANSEL BAKERY TOKYO will be offering limited-time menus, including Christmas and New Year's sweets and hot sweets perfect for the cold season. Starting November 5th, they'll be serving their popular hot chocolate, featuring adorable flowers blooming inside the cup. Four varieties are available: the classic white flower, a purple flower made with raspberry puree, a yellow flower inspired by sunflowers, and a red and white flower with ganache and a crystalline granulated sugar crust. On November 19th, they'll be introducing "Churro Duo" (900 yen), a traditional Spanish dessert that's also popular in the United States. These churros feature a three-dimensional, pyramidal shape, stretching out to over one meter in length. They'll be available in two flavors: white sesame and black sesame. From November 5th to 30th, the "THANKSGIVING MENU" will offer a menu of traditional American desserts. In addition to the "Pecan Tart" (6cm/680 yen), a treat enjoyed on Thanksgiving Day, a major American event held on the fourth Thursday of November, the menu will include the "Owl Cream Puff" (680 yen), filled with maple custard and walnut cream, the "Pumpkin Tart" (6cm/680 yen), and the "Apple Pie" (15cm/2,500 yen). The menu will also include the "Turkey Caramel Bread" (360 yen), shaped like the roast turkey that is always eaten on Thanksgiving. Since many people enjoy turkey sandwiches the day after Thanksgiving, the "Turkey Sandwich" (1,100 yen) will also be available. From December 20th to 25th, a Christmas-only menu will be available. The traditional French Christmas cake, "Buche de Noël," is available in two varieties: the "Chocolate Buche" (4,000 yen), made with rich French chocolate, and the "Strawberry Buche" (4,400 yen), made with whipped cream from Hokkaido and domestic strawberries. Oden, a winter staple in Japan, is also available in the unique "Oden" cake (small/550 yen, large/3,800 yen). Rich cheesecake is served in a triangular hanpen (fish cake), caramel mousse with yuzu cream filling is served as an egg, and a chestnut Buche de Noël is served on a skewer shaped like chikuwa fish cake. Other items on offer include the "Santa Cream Puff" (680 yen), a two-tiered cream puff resembling Santa Claus, and the traditional German confectionery, "Schuhström" (1,980 yen).

In addition, from January 1st to 9th of the following year, they will be selling the traditional French New Year's cake "Galette des Rois" (13cm/2,000 yen, 18cm/3,000 yen). It is said that whoever finds the "fève" hidden inside when cutting this classic dessert will have good fortune that year, and Dominique Ansel Bakery will be offering it with a hidden almond as the "fève."
