Marc Jacobs opens its first online store in Japan. Customer participation through social media

Mar 4, 2014

Marc Jacobs Japan opened its first official online store in Japan on March 3rd.
The store simultaneously launched two brands, "MARC JACOBS" and "MARC BY MARC JACOBS," and also stocks some of the books sold at the kids' and baby line "LITTLE MARC JACOBS" and "BOOKMARC," which opened in Harajuku, Tokyo in October last year. It is also possible to display stores that carry each item.
The store has also set up a "World of Marc Jacobs" to express the brand's world. It offers content such as "Marchives," which archives designer Marc Jacobs' past works, and "Bio," which traces his past achievements and career as a designer. "Meet the Marc Fam" and "Events" allow users to view store windows and events from brands not only in Japan but also in New York and around the world. "Videos" features videos introducing items primarily made in New York and store events. The site also emphasizes integration with social networks, creating a customer-participation environment through "Social," which showcases brand-related posts posted on social media. Users can also post reviews of each item using their social accounts. The live feed feature allows users to see popular items being viewed by nearby users in real time, and the smartphone site allows users to search for nearby stores using their current location. As part of the opening campaign, new email newsletter subscribers who sign up by the 14th will be entered into a drawing to win four Marc Jacobs and four Marc by Marc Jacobs products.
