The Fujiya Hotel is famous for having hosted many famous people, including John Lennon and Yoko Ono, Helen Keller, and Charles Chaplin.
Our second recommended shop is "Hakone Miyanoshita FUJIYA HOTEL The PIE," a pie specialty store newly opened on the first basement floor of COREDO Muromachi 2. In addition to pies that have long been loved at Fujiya Hotel, they also offer sweets exclusive to this store.
The most popular item, "The Apple Pie" (4,000 yen), is an updated version of the 135-year-old apple pie. This crispy, golden-brown pie boasts a mellow flavor thanks to the use of Calpis butter. The carefully stewed apples are cut into bite-sized pieces for easy eating, and the aroma of cinnamon fills your mouth. This popular item sells out within an hour of opening. The mini size, exclusive to COREDO Muromachi, is a bargain at 800 yen, so you can easily enjoy it.
The "Sakura An" (296 yen), a limited edition item available until April 6th, is a cherry blossom-shaped pie. It combines lightly sweetened koshian paste with "Riole," rice cooked in milk, for a mellow and gentle flavor. It is topped with cherry blossom petals, giving it a gorgeous and adorable appearance.
The "Lemon Meringue Pie," a signature dish alongside the apple pie, is characterized by the tartness of lemon and the soft texture of meringue. Other popular and easy-to-eat items include the "Meat Pie," packed with the delicious flavor of meat, the "Chicken Basil," with its subtle basil aroma, and the authentic, spicy "Coarsely Ground Chorizo."
