LANVIN presented its 2014-15 Autumn/Winter collection. Alber Elbaz's runway show was based on the themes of extreme and extravagant. Elegant looks, primarily in black, appeared one after another. The fringe on the tweed was created by cutting the warp threads rather than weaving them into the weft, and then hammering the tweed fabric from above. Extreme materials were used, including wool with a satin-like sheen and faux fur and faux leather that looked so real. The use of beads and the rippling fringe at the back also evoked tribal elements. The fringe was bonded to the outer fabric, with the excess hanging off the edge of the fabric, creating a unique design. The elegant cuts remained unchanged. Even seemingly simple looks were accented with tucks and patterns. This season, bias stitching is prominent, there is plenty of flare, and fabrics are used extravagantly.
Elbaz has also stated that this season there are elements that pay homage to Yohji Yamamoto. Looks featuring voluminous coats and wide-brimmed hats reminiscent of the brand appeared.
Accessories also have a tribal feel, using exotic leathers and large metal pieces to create a sense of weightiness.
