Since its founding in 1976, French fragrance house L'Artisan Parfumeur has continued to create a number of groundbreaking fragrances based on founder Jean Laporte's desire to "express the colors of nature through fragrance." On September 23, 2020, the brand will release a limited-edition "Couleur Vanille Eau de Parfum," inspired by vanilla's kaleidoscope of expressions. "Couleur Vanille" is the scent of vanilla, carried across the ocean on the trade winds, transporting you to the distant land of Madagascar. The scent of golden immortelle flowers and the gentle, soothing sea breeze will take you on an olfactory journey to discover the unknown charms of vanilla with just one spray. ■The scent of vanilla that transports you to the island of Madagascar
These exquisite botanical fragrances not only evoke the Master Perfumer's sense of place, but also evoke images of the land. While leafing through an atlas, perfumer Elénor Massenet was reminded of setting sail from Madagascar. The scorching sun fueled her imagination, and the sensual scents of the island's bounty were carried by the trade winds.

"Creating a fragrance incorporating vanilla, one of my favorite fragrances, was an incredibly thrilling challenge. Vanilla is a precious fragrance with a powerful duality. Often referred to as black gold, this rich scent is powerfully distinctive and addictive, transporting me instantly."

Elénor Massenet has created an exquisite vanilla fragrance using vanilla absolute extracted from vanilla grown under the Fairtrade program in Madagascar. Vanilla is joined by a hint of bergamot, followed by benzoin and tolu balsam. The lingering finish is a sea breeze gently caressing your cheeks, layered with a subtle hint of iodine.

About Vanilla
Known as "black flower" by the Aztecs and highly prized, vanilla was introduced to Europe in the 16th century. Long-vine vanilla trees grow in Madagascar, a paradise for biodiversity, among 1,000 species of orchids, including some of the oldest known on earth. When the flowers are hand-pollinated, they produce precious green pods that turn black after a few weeks of storage, creating the exquisite vanilla beans.
In northeastern Madagascar, where this transforming vanilla is grown, a fair trade program allows 4,000 farming families to earn a living from the crop and provide an education for their children. Our new fragrance, "Couleur Vanille Eau de Parfum," uses fragrance extracted from fair-trade vanilla.
