Warm up with wool at Ginza Fashion Week in October. First time participating at Printemps Ginza.

Sep 25, 2013

The 5th Ginza Fashion Week will be held in the Ginza area from the 16th to the 22nd, in conjunction with Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week TOKYO 2014 SS, which will be held from the 14th to the 19th of next month. In addition to Matsuya Ginza and Ginza Mitsukoshi, Printemps Ginza will be participating for the first time this year. As three stores are participating, the logos have been redesigned by Taku Sato.

Under the common theme of "Japanese Sensibility GINZA WARM HEART," the high quality of domestically produced wool products will be conveyed by showcasing products made with wool fabric and yarn. The original wool products made by each store will be displayed in the show windows and VP space, featuring pink mannequins jointly developed by the three companies. Matsuya Ginza will feature 72 items from 59 brands, including a shaggy check coat from GRACE CONTINENTAL (79,800 yen), a tweed coat from Nanette Lepore (51,450 yen), and a reversible blouson from DKNY (51,450 yen).

A fashion show showcasing wool products and fall/winter trends will also be held, and customers at each store will receive complimentary champagne. Customers who spend a total of 20,000 yen or more at the three stores will also receive wool-related novelties, such as a book cover made with wool from Nakaden Woolen Mills in Oshu (Matsuya Ginza), room shoes (Ginza Mitsukoshi), and a Japanese-made heart-shaped lint brush (Printemps Ginza).

In keeping with the "Warm" theme, the basement floor of Matsuya Ginza will be selling "warming sweets" made with ginger. Five restaurants, including Chianti, Patisserie de Bon Coeur, Tante-Marie, Kasho Seian, and Boulangerie Asanoya, will be offering limited-time original sweets made with domestically grown ginger "Golden Kokuzo 2." Starting at 7 PM on the 18th, a medicinal dinner talk show with Chinese medicine doctor Sachiko Yang will be held at I-Primi Ginza on the 8th floor of Matsuya Ginza, with the theme "Warm Women Are Beautiful" (participation fee: 10,500 yen). Additionally, essayist Kasumi Murakami's Minami Sanriku-based Great East Japan Earthquake charity project, the ama Project, will host a talk show featuring Eiji Okuda, director of the film "The Case of Kyoko and Shuichi," which depicts the lives of young men and women living through the disaster, and his daughter Momoko Ando, at a special venue on the 6th floor of Matsuya Ginza, starting at 5 PM on the 20th. Charity bracelets will also be sold at Rita's Diary on the third floor.
