CHANEL presented its 2025/26 Cruise Collection at Italy's iconic Villa d'Este.

Villa d'Este, with its magnificent Renaissance villa and Italian gardens, is like a movie set. The inspiration for the collection came from a hotel holiday. A hidden gem on the shores of Lake Como, Villa d'Este is a magnificent historic hotel frequented by celebrities, artists, and movie stars.

The Creation Studio captured the carefree and glamorous charm of the location, breathing life into a mood of carefree elegance and celebration. Short, flounced taffeta evening dresses
are adorned in lakeside pastel hues of peach, pink and blue. These sun-kissed hues are carried through to the tweed suiting, echoing the villa's ochre, yellow and orange. This dreamy mood is beautifully captured by Sofia Coppola in the show's teaser film.

Inspired by the joy of dressing up and turning heads, the collection is peppered with dance-inspired elements. Pantsuits—or evening pyjamas—have a relaxed, disco vibe, crafted from ultra-light tweeds embellished with vibrant sequins. Other pieces include a damask pantsuit crafted with gold lurex, and a black ensemble featuring a blouse and flared trousers covered in shimmering sequins. Under a long cape, a backless, low-cut jumpsuit embellished with pink and orange striped glitter—a signature Chanel fabric—is not only sun-kissed but also glamorous.

A short black taffeta bustier dress accented with a light cape evokes images of relaxed moments and beautiful summer evenings. An ivory blouse with voluminous sleeves and braid embroidered with beads and rhinestones complements white taffeta evening trousers. The cinematic atmosphere that envelops the long taffeta evening dresses and ivory suits evokes the world of Luchino Visconti, Gabrielle Chanel's great friend and frequent visitor to Lake Como...

The splendor of Villa d'Este is evident in its beautiful gardens, day and night, where magnolias, wisterias, camellias, rhododendrons and oleanders inspired the lace in this collection. Delicate floral motifs also feature on a black skirt suit with beaded embroidery and braid, a flared dress decorated with chiffon flowers in a striped pattern, and a white suit consisting of cropped trousers and a Spencer jacket.

The collection also incorporates codes typical of the Cruise collection, such as straight-cut white trousers, a pea coat (in strawberry ice cream), blue and white stripes (in a jersey trouser suit), and colored stripes (in a knitted cardigan, dress, and polo shirt). Other accessories include costume pearl necklaces, minaudières, large poolside bags, long gloves reminiscent of Hollywood movie stars, black sunglasses, patent leather mules, and silk foulard scarves tied in the hair, on the wrists, and around sandaled ankles, creating a timeless allure and effortless attitude.

Luxurious and comfortable, the CHANEL Cruise 2025/26 collection captures the harmonious mood of nonchalant glamour for which Villa d'Este and Lake Como have been renowned since the Renaissance.
