"AM Kurashiki (Artist Meets Kurashiki) Vol. 13: Ryo Inoue's Tora Tora Magomago Exhibition" will be held at the Ohara Museum of Art in Kurashiki, Okayama, from July 10th to September 4th.
"AM Kurashiki (Artist Meets Kurashiki)" is an initiative by the Ohara Museum of Art that introduces artists in the contemporary Japanese art world who work with photography, video, and other visual works, as well as performance and event-based works. As the term "Artist Meets Kurashiki" suggests, the artists create and exhibit works through their encounters with Kurashiki.
For this 13th edition, we have invited Ryo Inoue, who has attracted considerable attention on the NHK Educational TV program "Biju Tune!" for his video works in which he writes lyrics, composes music, sings, and animates works based solely on art works from all over the world, past and present. Titled "Inoue Ryo's Tora Tora Magomago Exhibition," the exhibition depicts a new animation based on three years of research and planning, depicting the friendship between Ohara Magosaburou and Kojima Torajiro, who both contributed to the founding of the Ohara Museum of Art.
