Each bookstore will act as a concierge, recommending "must-read books" to FASHION HEADLINE readers. Every Saturday, Shelf (3-7-4 Jingumae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo), a Harajuku bookstore specializing in foreign books, will introduce a book selection.

■ "Illustrated People" by Thomas Mailaender

This book reinterprets the performance of French artist Thomas Mailaender in book form.

By placing original negatives selected by the artist from the collection of London- and England-based publisher Archive of Modern Conflict directly on the skin of his subjects and shining a powerful ultraviolet lamp over them, the images temporarily appeared on the skin. Mailaender then photographed each model before the images faded under sunlight.

This book is composed of these photographs combined with original photographs scattered throughout AMC's archive collection. This work won the Photo Book of the Year award at Paris Photo in 2015.

Currently, a pop-up shop for publisher Amc Books is running in Shelf stores until July 3rd.
