On June 24th, Maison Margiela, designed by John Galliano, held its Spring/Summer 2017 men's collection show in the hall of the Paris Medical School. This season's collection aimed to blend two eras: the 1950s, when life was difficult without emphasizing masculinity, and the present, when men are increasingly being allowed to express their inner femininity and delicacy. The basting threads marking the jacket's production process were positioned as embroidery, symbolizing fragile, romantic, melancholic, and feminine transience. This conveyed the house's message: "Now is the time to express femininity." Even the trench coat, with its double-breasted drape, exudes a feminine mood. Another key word was "Limbo," a word meaning a recluse. The outfits reflected an attitude of freely combining clothes, unconstrained by convention. The fashion house described the relaxed silhouette as "Luther Romantic Silhouette" and the asymmetry as "Romantic Fluid." Even when choosing words to describe their clothing, they maintained a thorough and particular stance, boldly portraying a new image of masculinity.
