On January 23rd, the newly renamed Maison Margiela held a show at the Salle Wagram, a theater in the 17th arrondissement near the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.
The collection featured an intriguing fusion of Margiela's signature simple silhouettes with a glamorous '70s vibe and an antique feel, inspired by the Artisanal collection, using old materials sourced from flea markets.
Wide-leg pants, shirts, and coats with extremely thick belts were paired with geometric glitter innerwear, while a fur-collared leather coat was coordinated with psychedelic pants, evoking a flower child vibe. Coats and vests reconstructed from oil paintings found at flea markets were also featured. The dark lamé knit cardigans and pullovers were reminiscent of the disco generation of the past, leaving a strong impression that the 70s were a trend even for men.
