Olivier Rousteing's Balmain Homme held its Spring/Summer 2017 show on June 25th at the former Count Potoki mansion, now the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Ricky Martin and many other celebrities filled the front row. This season's collection was a hybrid, drawing inspiration from the American West Coast of the 1970s and incorporating elements of the Inca Empire and Maya, transcending time and space. The collection kicked off with a simple, relaxed denim series paired with lace-up shirts. But then, a flurry of gorgeous pieces, typical of Balmain, appeared, including a denim blouson embroidered with chains and a denim jacket embroidered with South American patterns. A buckskin biker jacket was paired with slim-fitting buckskin pants in the same color, and a buckskin coat was paired with a loose-fitting kimono-style jumpsuit. An all-over rhinestone blouson was paired with sarouel-style pants, while a buckskin kimono-sleeve coat was paired with tight-fitting jersey rider pants for a contrasting look.

The colors, orange, purple, turquoise, yellow, red, and blue, were reminiscent of the strong fashion of the 1970s while also evoking the vibrant color palette of South America, creating an exquisite link between the two. Items typical of a couture house, such as a jacket woven with multicolored leather cord, a military-style jacket with cord embroidery, and a poncho-style tunic top embroidered all over with malachite and turquoise, were still present, once again strongly impressing with the high level of craftsmanship.
