Longchamp launches new collection "Mailbox" with striking design inspired by French postboxes

Sep 9, 2020
Founded in Paris, France in 1948 by Jean Cassegrain, Longchamp is a maison brand that combines modern luxury with creativity and dynamism. The brand will launch the "Mailbox" collection, which embodies the maison's philosophy of "travel," worldwide. In Japan, the collection will be available at "Longchamp La Maison Omotesando," "Longchamp La Maison Ginza," select stores, and the official online store, with nationwide rollout planned from September 7, 2020.

The striking "Mailbox," with its form inspired by the French "La Poste" (post box), is part of a new collection available in three sizes, combining functionality with an emotional design that invites the user on a "journey." Crafted from smooth grained leather, the bag features double stitching on the front and sides of the gusset, giving it a unique and distinctive look while ensuring it is durable enough for everyday use. A jewel-like gold medallion adds a touch of elegance to the front pocket, allowing you to slip in a love letter, happy news, or something to fill the user's heart with something special. The Mailbox has an elegant and sensual appearance, yet has outstanding storage capacity so you can put everything you need in it and take it anywhere, and is filled with Longchamp's philosophy of "selecting only the things that are important to you and traveling the world in your own style."

The lyrical Mailbox brings a timeless and feminine radiance to the Longchamp woman who travels the globe, further enhancing the individuality of the person who carries it.

The brand began with the world's first luxury leather-wrapped pipes, made from hand-stitched leather wrapped around pipes, and has continued to convey styles that adorn the Longchamp woman living today, while following its heritage spanning more than 70 years. Longchamp has released iconic and timeless bag collections that embody French savoir-faire, such as the origami-inspired "Le Pliage(R)," released in 1993, and the striking "Roseau" with its bamboo toggle. Today, under Creative Director Sophie Delafontaine, Longchamp reinterprets French elegance with ready-to-wear, as well as bags, accessories, shoes, eyewear, and travel goods for both men and women, each season. Preserving its family-run tradition, Longchamp remains owned and operated by the Cassegrain family, with over 300 directly operated boutiques in 80 countries around the world. In Japan, Longchamp La Maison Ginza opened in July 2019, bringing the total to 54 stores (as of September 2020), including the flagship La Maison in Omotesando and Ginza. Furthermore, Longchamp, which values craftsmanship from its atelier in Segrès, France, has been recognized as an Intangible Cultural Heritage Company by the French government since 2007.
