On June 11th, JOHN LAWRENCE SULLIVAN presented its Spring/Summer 2018 collection in London. This season, the show combined men's and women's styles. Continuing the trend from last season, this season's collection exuded a rock spirit with bold, structured silhouettes.
The first look was a pure white suit set. It featured angular power shoulders, an ultra-high waist, and ultra-wide pants. In Yanagawa's hands, even classic pieces are transformed into a modern rock look. His free-spirited approach, unconstrained by rules or restrictions, is still alive and well this season. The exquisite imbalance of the pieces, such as jackets with outsized volume, cut-off sleeves, and unusually long belts, is perfectly suited to the current trend.
While his youthful, impactful looks tend to leave a lasting impression, we must never forget John Lawrence Sullivan's signature beautiful British-style tailored jackets. The women's collection in particular made full use of men's tailoring techniques to create a slim and sharp silhouette. The look, which featured a suit set with no innerwear and exposed chest, was a stunning display of elegance with just the items. The brand's core pursuit of tailoring remains unwavering, and Yanagawa's challenge in the UK, the home of tailoring, continues.
