The ANREALAGE MONTE Z, a collaboration between ASICS Japan's Onitsuka Tiger and ANREALAGE, was released on June 17th. The design is based on the MONTE POKHARA, released in 2009, which was based on an outdoor-inspired silhouette but with a minimalist, futuristic form. The monosock construction, which integrates the tongue and upper, makes the shoe easy to wear. The upper, inspired by the structure of a kimono, features a perforated instep. Two variations are available, each of which can be viewed using augmented reality (AR). When you hold your smartphone over the sneakers, the ANREALAGE logo on the upper appears. One model features an AR soundtrack by Sakanaction's Ichiro Yamaguchi, while the other, when photographed with a smartphone, reveals a striped pattern on the white upper. Both models possess dual personalities. This development method, based on the theme of "SILENCE" from the 2017 Spring/Summer Paris Collection, uses AR technology to express the "voice of the clothes" based on ANREALAGE's worldview, where the everyday and the extraordinary intersect.
In addition, to coincide with the sale of this item, a promotional video featuring actor Mirai Moriyama and filmmaker Kosai Sekine will be released. Based on the concept of "freedom and oppression," the video uses CG that blends virtual and real, evoking the idea that "people and objects are given anonymity or revealed, and their meaning is erased, changed, or denied" by drawing a black line from the black bar, the main motif of ANREALAGE's 2017 Spring/Summer collection.
The shoes will be available in two colours, white x white and white x black, priced at 15,000 yen each. They will be available at Onitsuka Tiger directly managed stores in Japan, the Onitsuka Tiger Magazine online store, the ANREALAGE Aoyama store, and ANREALAGE ZOZOTOWN.
