Apr 16, 2013

Ayatake Uchida's solo exhibition "Change" will be held at Gallery Speak For in Daikanyama, Tokyo, from April 26th. This will be his first solo exhibition in Tokyo in approximately two years. Based on the keyword "change," the exhibition will feature approximately 30 recent works, large and small, including acrylic originals and piezograph variations on similar motifs. It will also feature his work as a musician, a new zine, three-dimensional works, and postcard sets. A gallery talk will be held on the opening day, April 26th, where Uchida himself will provide an explanation of his work. Ayatake Uchida was born in Kyoto in 1981 and graduated from Kyoto University of Art and Design. His works are characterized by simple composition, color balance, and shadow-like expression. His works have attracted widespread attention across genres, from the architecture and interior design industries, and in recent years have been used in advertising and product packaging. He is also active in the fields of music and stage design, releasing his first album this month and creating the stage art for the musical "Take Flight" directed by Miyamoto Amon.
