"Works by Edition Works," a print exhibition curated in collaboration with print studio Edition Works, will open on March 22 at the Yumiko Chiba Associates viewing room shinjuku gallery in Nishi-Shinjuku. The exhibition features prints by artist Yuichi Higashionna, known for his fluorescent light chandelier series and his FL (Flower) series, in which artificial flowers and chains are spray-painted. It also features prints by photographer Ryudai Takano, who has held numerous solo exhibitions in Japan and participated in international shows in Paris and Shanghai. "Prints always have the substance of the material," says Edition Works CEO Tomoaki Kayama. "The more digital and virtual the world becomes, the stronger the desire for a sense of real presence and physicality grows for both artists and viewers." This exhibition aims to re-examine the meaning of printmaking.
A talk event featuring Higashionna, Takano, and Kayama is scheduled to be held on April 6th during the exhibition period.
