Yasutomo Ebisu expresses the vitality of plants and the dynamic beauty of dancers in a collaborative object at the Shiseido Ginza Building

Apr 7, 2015

A collaborative work by designer Kiyomi Suzuki and photographer Yasutomo Ebisu will be exhibited in a window display on the first floor of the Shiseido Ginza Building from April 1 to June 30. Based on the theme "Let's Move Beauty," this piece expresses the dynamic beauty of women. Suzuki created an object that embodies the dynamic movement of a female dancer. It incorporates a design that makes the most of the vitality and texture of plants, a characteristic of Suzuki's work. This is combined with a board photographed by Ebisu of Akiko Kitamura, a female dancer active both in Japan and overseas. The beauty of the object can be seen in the trajectory of the dancer's graceful movements. Kiyomi Suzuki is a designer who specializes in creating works that take full advantage of the characteristics of materials and are rooted in the vitality of plants. Previous works include the Zephy chair, made entirely of carbon fiber and weighing 960 grams, and the Cloris illuminated table. In 2013, he designed the reception counter and bench "Venus" at Shiseido's headquarters building, bringing out the sensibility of carbon fiber.

Meanwhile, Ebisu Yasutomo is a photographer who works on editorial and commercial projects, focusing on portraits of fashion and artists. In 2011 and 2012, he won the New York ADC Award for his advertisements for Laforet Harajuku. In January 2014, he published his first collection of works, "BONES."

During this period, the display shelf on the second floor will host "Ebisu Yasutomo Hanatsubaki 'Woman' Portraits." This time, portraits of 31 Japanese women active around the world will be on display, selected from the photographs published in the "Woman" column, which ran in the corporate culture magazine Hanatsubaki from the April 2012 issue to the December 2014 issue.
