The "Food and Greenery Hanging Garden" will open on the rooftop of Seibu Ikebukuro Main Store on April 29th. It will feature a restaurant bar where you can casually enjoy seasonal international cuisine and oysters.
The "Food and Greenery Hanging Garden" is inspired by the masterpiece "Water Lilies" by Claude Monet, a representative Impressionist painter, as well as Monet's beloved gardens at Giverny in Normandy. It will function as a place of relaxation where visitors can experience diverse natural environments.
The "Water Lily Garden," a promenade where visitors can experience the four seasons, features a pond approximately 25 meters deep and an average width of 7 meters. It is decorated with approximately 80 types of flowers, including water lilies, irises, and climbing roses. Other features include a "Green Wall" covered in seasonal flowers such as Lenten roses, Rhaphiolepis dulcis, and gardenias, and a "Grass Field" grassy area where children can play barefoot. In addition, La Terrasse-Oyster & International, a restaurant and bar offering themed cuisine such as Italian, Spanish, and bistro, has opened. Enjoy casual oyster dishes alongside seasonal menus. Starting in May, a variety of Italian-themed dishes will be served by the water lily pond. Main menu items include "Oyster Roast 6 Pieces" (1,621 yen), steamed oysters packed with flavor, and the original stout beer, "Oyster Stout" (834 yen). Ten food carts offering a wide variety of Japanese, Western, and Chinese cuisine will also be available. The menu changes seasonally, and in May, a "Kushi Fest" will be held, offering a variety of skewer dishes. Karukaya, a Sanuki udon restaurant, will also be open. The garden will also host a morning market, morning yoga, and live music. The space will be filled with play equipment such as mini slides, as well as chairs and tables imported directly from France and Belgium, making it a fun space for people of all ages, from children to adults. Furthermore, the garden will be illuminated in blue at sunset and rose at night, adding a touch of elegance to the lush greenery.
