
Ginza Mitsukoshi will host the "Kanazawa, Noto, Kaga Exhibition," an event showcasing the gourmet food and crafts of Ishikawa Prefecture, from April 22nd to 28th in the store's 8th floor event space. Cafe TSUBOMI, where you can sample Japanese sweets from Kanazawa's long-established restaurant Suginoi, will open its first Tokyo location. The eat-in corner will offer a set of Gorojima Kintoki sweet potato yokan (jelly bean paste) and Kaga Bancha tea with kudzu and black honey (1,000 yen), and a cream anmitsu set (1,000 yen), both created for the first time for the exhibition. Additionally, Yoshihashi Confectionery, which makes high-quality sweets based on customer requests and does not normally stock or sell them in stores, will be selling three types of seasonal high-quality sweets (310 yen each), with a limited number of 50 per day. Kanazawa Tamazushi, with its main store in Katamachi, Kanazawa City, will be offering Kanazawa Seafood Chirashi (2,500 yen) and Kaga Nigiri (2,000 yen) for dine-in. They will also be serving Shibazushi's Sanmai Sasazushi (1,000 yen), a special dish made with salmon, mackerel, and sea bream, a staple on special occasions in Kanazawa, and Ushioya's seared red sea bream with kelp (1,500 yen/100g). Also on display will be Wajima lacquerware, a traditional craft representative of Ishikawa Prefecture. Yoshida Lacquerware Studio will be selling pieces that combine tradition and modernity, such as the Ichimatsu Kuzushi Long Plate (natural wood and lacquered/25,000 yen), which features a checkered pattern in a modern Japanese style. Choza Yamamoto, an artist at Myosen Pottery Studio, which recreates ancient Kutani indigo in modern times, will be offering a selection of delicately dyed works, including Kutani ware coffee cups and plates (starting at ¥38,000). Kanazawa, home to approximately 99% of Japan's gold leaf production, is also renowned for its gold leaf crafts. Hakuichi, a gold leaf crafts shop, will be selling a pair of folding screens, "Red and White Plum Blossoms" (Japanese paper and gold leaf; 175cm wide x 152.5cm high x 2 panels; ¥3,000,000), and a foil art panel, "Ichi" (Japanese paper and gold leaf; 135cm wide x 3cm deep x 48cm high; ¥600,000), showcasing the city's delicate yet majestic history and culture. During the exhibition, items from the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, will be on sale on the same floor, and the Ginza Terrace on the 9th floor will host events where visitors can experience the charms of Kanazawa. The Kanazawa Geisha Stage will feature geisha from Kanazawa, who will be performing dance moves and regional performing arts such as shamisen and singing (April 22nd, 11am and 1pm, each session lasting approximately 20 minutes).
There will also be workshops where you can casually try your hand at traditional crafts and Japanese sweets making. Kaga Yuzen experience (April 23rd to 25th, maximum 8 people per session, participation fee 1,000 yen), Kaga fly experience (April 22nd and 23rd, maximum 5 people per session, participation fee 2,000 yen), Kaga Maki-e experience (April 27th and 28th, maximum 6 people per session, participation fee 3,000 yen), bamboo craft experience (April 26th to 28th, maximum 8 people per session, participation fee 600 yen), Japanese sweets making experience (April 22nd, 24th to 26th, maximum 8 people per session, participation fee 500 yen), etc. Registration for participation will be on a first-come, first-served basis at Ginza Terrace/Terrace Room from 10:30 on the day of each event.
