Vivienne Westwood launches ethical bags at Isetan

Apr 21, 2015

Vivienne Westwood will participate in the Global Green Campaign, held at the Isetan Shinjuku store from May 11th to 19th. The brand will be releasing its new EFI Africa Bag Collection. The event will take place at The Stage #3 in Center Park on the third floor of the main building of the Isetan Shinjuku store.

EFI (Ethical Fashion Initiative), with its slogan "Not Charity, Just Work," supports the connection of handcrafted items from people living in impoverished areas of Africa, Haiti, and Palestine with global fashion brands and retailers. For the past 10 seasons, the brand has collaborated with EFI to develop bags handmade in West Africa.

To commemorate the project's 10th anniversary, the brand will offer a total of 21 items from the EFI Africa Bag Collection, new for the Spring/Summer 2015 season, including two items available for pre-sale. The lineup includes the "Squiggle Leopard Tote" (42,000 yen) and the "Squiggle Shopper" (40,000 yen).

Regarding the collaboration with EFI, Vivienne Westwood said, "What sets this project apart from other charities is that by providing income to the world's poorest people, it benefits the entire community. It's not just about financial gain; the work gives them new, lifelong skills, and the ability to develop them into other jobs or projects."

In addition, as part of the Global Green Campaign, Isetan introduces various items related to eco-friendliness, community support, and social contribution every year. In 2013, the brand collaborated with Marni to exhibit and sell items made in Kenya.
