Vivienne Westwood collaborates with psychedelic artist to release newspaper-style bags and T-shirts

Apr 20, 2015

Vivienne Westwood will release a collaboration with psychedelic artist Matteo Guarnaccia on May 9th. Matteo Guarnaccia is a leading figure in Italian underground culture. He fuses ancient culture with modern techniques to create innovative, new works that disrupt existing cultures. He has held solo exhibitions in Italy and around the world, including Japan. For this collection, Matteo has created a deeply personal illustration that pays homage to the brand and its designer, Vivienne Westwood. He uniquely depicts iconic items from the brand, such as pirate boots and bondage jackets, as well as defining moments in Vivienne Westwood's life as an activist. Among the items printed with this illustration, the clutch bag (priced at ¥30,000) features newspaper-like colors that make it look like a real newspaper. The contrast with the tanned leather is also striking. Meanwhile, the Boston bag (40,000 yen) is an item that reflects Matteo's unique sensibility, having traveled the world. It comes in two colors: white and lime green. Meanwhile, the T-shirt (17,000 yen), which features a functional back pocket, comes in two colors: light blue and burgundy, and gray and black.

Available at Vivienne Westwood Man, select Vivienne Westwood Red Label stores, and limited import stores. In addition, to commemorate this collaboration, a special exhibition of Matteo's works will be held at the Vivienne Westwood Aoyama store and the Vivienne Westwood Man Omotesando store from May 8th to 24th.
