Contemporary artist Andy Warhol was born on August 6, 1928, in Pennsylvania, USA. He passed away on February 22, 1987.
... In June 1968, while he was active worldwide as a pioneer of pop art, Warhol was attacked with a handgun by a woman who was a member of the "All-Male Extermination Squad." He survived and returned to work, once again creating silkscreen portrait prints, this time featuring figures such as Mao Zedong and Michael Jackson. In 1969, he launched the popular magazine "Interview," which continues to this day. In 1974, he made his first visit to Japan and made a splash by appearing in a TDK commercial. He died in 1987 at the age of 58. His masterpiece, "200 Campbell's Soup Cans," will be shown in Japan for the first time at the "American Pop Art" exhibition, opening at the National Art Center, Tokyo on the 7th. Also, starting on the 8th, Gallery Target will host "WARHOLS - Early Editions & Printed Matters," showcasing Warhol through the gallery collection and limited editions (prints sold by publishers in limited quantities).
