The directly managed store of Salon, a shoe brand created by Nobuko Sakai (located at 2-19-7 Jingumae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo), has undergone a renovation. The new store opened on August 2nd in a new format in collaboration with Double Piping, a new interior brand created by Sakai's younger brother, Daisuke Sakai. The two-floor store features Salon's shoe collection on the first floor, as well as lamps and sofas from PINK NAME, a Salon-exclusive line made with fabrics selected by Nobuko Sakai and commissioned by Double Piping. Salon's new fall/winter collection features a selection of basic beige and black colors, including cute shoes with fur accents, camouflage-patterned pumps, and shoes from A.PAIR, a classic career-oriented line. To coincide with the opening, exclusive ponytail shoes will also be released. The window display is decorated by artist Hiroshi Shinozaki (SUBOTEN). The second floor carries furniture from Double Piping's original line, "BLUE NAME." Sakai Daisuke started the brand after 20 years in the interior design industry. He purchases mainly mid-century chairs, sofas, and posters from the United States, Europe, and Japan, and remakes them using vintage textiles. Prices range from 10,000 yen to 200,000 yen. The lineup focuses on small furniture that can be easily incorporated into everyday life.
For the renewal eight years after the opening of the directly managed store, Nobuko Sakai said she wanted to try working on items other than shoes. "The scenery of an ordinary room can change completely, both in its impression and in its mood, just by adding a chair or light. It's similar to the way fashion can change your usual style with just a pair of shoes," she says.
