Wise releases double-name wooden cup with Kagoshima woodworker Akihiro Jin

Aug 9, 2013

Y's has released a co-branded mug and cafe au lait bowl in collaboration with AKIHIRO WOODWORKS, a company led by Kagoshima woodworker Akihiro Jin.
This collaboration was realized because Y's resonated with Akihiro Woodworks's "handcrafted product design."
The wooden mug "JINCUP" (31,500 yen) is octagonal. Crafted with artisanal skill to fit comfortably in the hand, the rim is thin and smoothly carved. The cafe au lait bowl (37,800 yen) is thick, but the exterior is roughly carved to preserve the unique texture of wood.
Both products are made from thuja (Japanese laurel) grown in Kagoshima Prefecture. The tops are colored with lacquer. Available in red and black, they are available at Y's stores nationwide and the official online shop.

Akihirojin began working as a woodworker in 2002. He has expanded his activities to include the production of custom-made furniture and original products, interior design for shops and homes, and the presentation of installation works. Akihiro Woodworks is run by Akihiro himself, his father, and his third son. Last month, they held a special exhibition at Dieci in Osaka and Tokyo Culture by Beams in Tokyo.
