FASHION HEADLINE's official YouTube channel is currently streaming footage of Yohji Yamamoto's runway show event in Germany in April. The approximately 30-minute show showcased around 40 pieces from the brand's archives, spanning from AW 94-95 to SS 09.
Featured pieces included a classic blue tweed and fur suit from AW 97, famously photographed by photographer Annie Leibovitz for US Vogue, a wavy ruffled dress from SS 99, a yellow and black dress from AW 05, and a black gabardine suit, a style that Yamamoto has always pursued.
The scene shown in the '99SS collection, in which gloves, a head dress, a bouquet and other accessories were pulled out from under the skirt of a wedding dress to complete the bridal look, was reproduced exactly as it was.
The show was part of the event "Cutting Age: Yohji Yamamoto in Berlin," sponsored by Audi. The theme "Cutting Age" embodies the two meanings of "skillful tailoring" and "40 years in which Yohji Yamamoto has continued to challenge the norms of the fashion world."
