New ecco shoe model unveiled at Isetan. Space created with Lego.

Aug 9, 2013

In conjunction with the preview of Danish shoe brand ecco's new series, "ECCO SCULPTURED75," the exhibition "Scandinavian Innovation - SCULPTURED75 and the World of Scandinavian Design" is being held on the second floor of the main building of Isetan Shinjuku.

The venue was designed by project designer Toshiki Sato, and with a focus on Denmark, the birthplace of ecco, decorations made with LEGO blocks and furniture from Danish furniture brand HAY are on display alongside the shoes.

"ECCO SCULPTURED75" is an evolved version of the popular series "SCULPTURED65," which sold over one million pairs in just a few months after its release in the fall/winter of 2012. As the name "Sculptured" suggests, the shoes are designed to be ergonomically comfortable. There are three models: short boots (26,250 yen), booties (25,200 yen), and loafers (21,000 yen), available in burgundy, black, and Deep Forest, which is exclusive to Isetan.

Ecco was founded in 1963 by Carl Zuspy and started out in a town in the south of Denmark with 16 employees. The company handles everything from design to manufacturing and sales in-house, and currently operates 1,000 Ecco shops in 90 countries around the world. Every detail of the shoes is handmade by skilled craftsmen. The company also produces the leather used as material in-house, and is said to be one of the world's five largest leather manufacturers.
