Based on the policy of "considering and immediately implementing every possible measure we can take to curb the spread of COVID-19" (Shiseido Company, Limited, President and CEO Masahiko Uotani), Shiseido has been utilizing its knowledge, technology, and facilities as a cosmetics company to consider and implement various countermeasures.
Shiseido will now release its hand sanitizer (designated quasi-drug), which it has been providing to medical institutions since April 2020, to the general public in early August 2020. This alcohol-based hand sanitizer has a "gentle-hand formula" unique to a cosmetics company, and will be initially rolled out in Tokyo, where there has been a high demand, initially in stores (cosmetics specialty stores, drugstores, GMS, home improvement centers, and supermarkets), with plans to expand sales areas in line with market conditions.
