While the collection marks the pace of the fashion season, for Maria Grazia Chiuri, the Fall collection is a special time of reflection and constantly renewed inquiry. Each time, the wardrobe is reborn with unique constructions, cuts, and materials, and her creativity encompasses everything a woman needs. This collection pays homage to the metropolis of New York. A gift from France to America at the end of the 19th century, the statue became a symbol of this great city. Christian Dior dedicated a chapter in his autobiography to his journey from Paris to New York, initiating a dialogue between the two style capitals. Two key prints, the Statue of Liberty and the Eiffel Tower, were featured prominently by Maria Grazia Chiuri and featured prominently on numerous pieces.

Bridging the two cultures was Marlene Dietrich, the charismatic and unorthodox actress who famously wore Dior both on screen and in her personal life. Maria Grazia Chiuri took inspiration from her to create a collection that infused Dior silhouettes with her dreamy presence and boyish charm.

The tweed used is a fabric commonly used in British menswear. In his book "The Little Dictionary of Fashion," Monsieur Dior wrote, "In recent years, tweed has been used in dressy suits. I consider tweed to be very elegant. Wearing tweed in this country is a 'must.' Whereas before, only heavy tweeds were available, now they are available in a variety of weights, qualities, and colors." Marlene Dietrich's masculine suits caused scandal and affirmed a woman's right to dress however she pleased. Many iconic pieces complement each other, such as ties and sleeveless vests. Jackets are paired with wide-leg trousers and knee-length pencil skirts.

Delicate, sometimes lightweight dresses evoking 1940s style hint at lingerie, the heart of the look. Fabrics such as hammered satin, crushed velvet and crepe are reinterpreted with a contemporary spirit. Peeking out from beneath oversized lined coats, several lace-embellished slip dresses are crafted from quilted nylon with a "cannage" motif. Embroidery recalls brooches and echoes signature codes dear to Monsieur Dior: stars, lilies of the valley, clovers and bees. Lace collars become structured intarsia, and a remarkable ingenuity in knitwear broadens its extraordinary versatility.

Presented in New York on April 15, 2024, the Dior Fall 2024 collection embodies a celebration of cultural fusion and expansive possibilities. A dialogue on freedom, creating silhouettes and pieces that accompany any woman's chosen persona, whatever her style.
