Balenciaga will open its first flagship store in Tokyo's Ginza district on the first to third floors of the newly rebuilt TORAYA Ginza Building.

Spanning three floors, from the first to third floors, the store will stock the latest Balenciaga men's and women's creations as well as Balenciaga Ginza exclusive items. To celebrate the organization that preserves local crafts and artisanal skills, Balenciaga will be selling a limited number of specially designed, hand-crafted ceramic bowls and vases, supervised by Ginza Kuroda Touen, a specialist contemporary ceramics store, to coincide with the opening.

Limited-edition Japanese sweets featuring the Balenciaga logo will be offered at the opening by Toraya, a Japanese sweets shop with approximately 500 years of history. In addition, the exclusive Balenciaga Ginza series will also be available, including ready-to-wear clothing featuring Ginza Tokyo graphics, Triple S sneakers with Ginza Tokyo tags, and limited-edition colors of Balenciaga's iconic handbags.

From April 27th to 29th, Dresses Beyond Time, a curated selection from Balenciaga Couture's precious archives, will be on display and open to the public on the store's top two floors. This exhibition of one-of-a-kind garments showcases custom designs that have experienced extraordinary moments on their owners' shoulders, revealing their unique beauty and fragility through wear, and offering an up-close glimpse into how Cristóbal Balenciaga's masterful craftsmanship continues to speak to today's collections. The aesthetic of this space is based on the brand's experiential Raw Architecture concept.

The deconstructed glass-panel façade appears to merge all three floors, resembling the structural nature of stacked parking garages. Two gleaming white "Balenciaga" signs, one hanging above the store's central level, ensure the store is recognizable from street-facing views. The chipped stone and mortar floors are covered with smooth resin pours that appear to have been accidentally spilled, and interlocking metal sheets. The store's architecture respects existing elements, mining accumulated history and essentially reducing the use of virgin materials in line with Balenciaga's commitment to sustainable practices.
