Amano Yoshitaka and Hyde (HYDE) attended a press preview of the "Yoshitaka Amano x HYDE Exhibition: Destiny and Violence - NIPPON EVOLUTION," which opens at Laforet Museum Harajuku on August 9th. The art exhibition, which runs until the 31st, features a variety of paintings by Amano Yoshitaka, known for his character design for the video game "Final Fantasy," including HYDE-inspired paintings, life-size sculptures, and holographic art using world-first technology. Regarding this collaboration, HYDE commented, "At first, I wondered if it was really okay for me to do it, but I've always been a fan of Amano-sensei's, so I thought it was a great honor and accepted. I'm embarrassed to say I'm the subject of the work, but as a fan, I think it's a cool piece." Amano added, "I always thought the art I draw was very similar to HYDE's. So when I heard about it, I was surprised and felt a strange connection." During the preview, a video was shown of Amano performing a live painting with HYDE as the model. Hyde, who was being painted right in front of him, said, "I felt it would be a waste not to absorb the energy that Amano was radiating, so I concentrated and focused my attention on him." Yoshitaka Amano is a painter and illustrator who has worked on numerous character designs, including the "Final Fantasy" video game series, "Vampire Hunter D," the "Time Bokan" series, and "Science Ninja Team Gatchaman." His delicate and fantastical designs are highly acclaimed overseas. Hyde is the vocalist for L'Arc~en~Ciel and VAMPS. In 2012, they embarked on the "L'Arc~en~Ciel WORLD TOUR 2012," which saw them perform 17 shows in 14 cities in 10 countries, including a solo concert at Madison Square Garden in New York, the first time a Japanese artist had done so, attracting a total of 450,000 people.
