LOEWE, designed by Jonathan Anderson, presented its Spring/Summer 2018 men's collection in June at its atelier and showroom facing Place Saint-Sulpice in Paris.
While last season was inspired by Ibiza, this season the brand is inspired by Cabdaqués, the port town where Salvador Dali had a villa and beloved by Joan Miró and Pablo Picasso.
Making the most of the house's strength in craftsmanship, and adding artistic elements, the collection presents unique and powerful creations that distance themselves from trends.
All the pieces exude strong individuality, such as jersey tops with multiple pockets and tops with multiple sewn-in zippers. There are also some nostalgic pieces, such as a jacquard suit featuring William Morris motifs woven in a tapestry style, slipper-style shoes with embroidery reminiscent of cross-stitch, and a shirt featuring a photograph by Wilhelm von Gloeden, considered the father of male nudes, and pockets and collars with leaf-shaped brass parts encased in PVC.
Although the collection is made up of a wide variety of items, it is fascinating how the entire collection exudes an unwavering sense of unity.
