Jonathan Anderson's LOEWE presented its Fall/Winter 2017-18 men's collection in a presentation format at a showroom facing Place Saint-Sulpice.
A mix of worker and non-worker. In other words, a combination of post-industrial artisanal style and non-worker style produced the elegant, modern style that is characteristic of LOEWE.
To create something requires the destruction of many things, and the image of creation involving destruction, linked to the keyword of anarchy, also incorporated punk imagery with red tartan checks and slogan T-shirts. The multifaceted image sources remain alive and well. A calf leather polo shirt reminiscent of a craftsman's apron, with its long length and dress-like appearance, was an eye-catching item that represented an evolution of workwear. While there are workwear-inspired pieces like a shearling and denim blouson and a fisherman coat with a shearling collar, there's also a mix of non-workwear styles, like a color-blocked shearling coat and a bathrobe-style shearling coat. There are also unique pieces, like a blanket-style coat adorned with fringe and an Aran knit duffle-style vest with toggles of various shapes. There's also a wide variety of accessories to accent the collection, including a bag featuring a half-stitched image of a man in ethnic clothing holding a pipe, an Aran knit tote bag, and a tote bag with a pass case or wallet attached. Other pieces, like a spool-like charm, a necklace with a ceramic cup as a pendant, and an umbrella-patterned necklace featuring an animal motif, all demonstrate the depth of Anderson's creativity.
