First designed and handcrafted by Tiffany for the I Super Bowl in 1967, the Vince Lombardi Trophy symbolizes the pinnacle of American football glory. Three years later, in 1970, the trophy was given its current name in honor of the late coach Vince Lombardi, who led the Green Bay Packers to victory in Super Bowls I and II.

The trophy design was originally conceived by former Tiffany & Co. Vice President Oscar Leidner. It was based on a napkin sketch he made in 1966 during a meeting with then-NFL® Commissioner Pete Rozelle. The design depicts a regulation-sized football in kicking position.

Tiffany entrusted the design to its most skilled artisans, who spent approximately four months perfecting the trophy. From spinning and silversmithing to embossing, hand-engraving and polishing, the artisans combined traditional techniques with cutting-edge technology to create the sterling silver trophy, which weighs approximately 7.5 pounds and stands approximately 22 inches tall. Each year, the Vince Lombardi Trophy is one of the many trophies that Tiffany's skilled artisans handcraft each year at its hollowware workshop in Rhode Island.
