The story of Dior perfumes is now available as a podcast series. Embark on an olfactory journey of the imagination as you hear amazing anecdotes from Monsieur Dior and the secret stories behind the creation of his many fragrances. Listen to the emotional sounds of the South of France, Paris, and Normandy, as you journey through places associated with him. The episodes also feature delicate portrayals of people who played an important role in the history of Dior fragrances.
The story begins in Grasse, a favorite place of Monsieur Dior, where the flower farm owned by Dior Fragrances still stands today. The year 1954 was marked by a series of clear autumn days, making it a special one for him. Between seasons of Paris Fashion Week, he enjoyed a life of luxury at his villa, La Colle Noire, in the village of Montreux in the Fayance region of southern France. On his vast estate, he cultivated centifolia roses, almonds, grapes, olive trees, lavender, and jasmine. A Normandy native with a passion for gardens and flowers, this was the realization of a lifelong dream. Fields of fragrant jasmine grandiflorum stretched as far as the eye could see. Next to renowned perfumer Edmond Rudnitska, he likely listened to the sparkling sounds of nature and the lively chatter of people picking flowers early in the morning.
This sensuous opening scene, bathed in brilliant sunlight and echoing the sounds of cicadas, is the central theme of this new podcast series. It was Monsieur Dior's boundless passion for flowers that shaped his overwhelming creativity.
In several scenes, we travel from Granville to Paris, from the opulence of the Belle Époque to the austerity of wartime. From perfume to new perfume, from place to place. The New Look revolution bursts into view, accompanied by Monsieur Dior's own voice. A few precise words reveal new facets of his innovative flower woman designs, inspired by his idealized childhood memories, and his radiant, elegant petticoat look. His distinct aesthetic—his love of pink, gray, roses, and a tranquil lifestyle—is revealed to have its roots in Granville's birthplace.
At key moments, Dior Perfumer-Creator François Demachy's poetic and sensitive words shed light on Monsieur Dior's story. He discusses the fragrances that created the Dior legend, from the green chypre of Miss Dior to the fresh lily of the valley of Diorissimo. Moved by the beauty of the aforementioned Dior region, he evokes the unchanging spirit of La Colle Noire.
This untold, documentary-style podcast series, "DIOR UNTOLD," invites us into Monsieur Dior's fascinating story, as if narrated by the Dior perfumes themselves.
"DIOR IN BLOOM" will premiere on June 28, 2020, on DIOR.COM, SPOTIFY, DEEZER, APPLE PODCAST, YOUTUBE, SOUNDCLOUD, and PODCAST ADDICT.
