The Dining Room, a restaurant and bar at The Strings Hotel Tokyo InterContinental, will be offering a summer-only "Suzuka Shaved Ice" afternoon tea set from July 1 to September 13. Since 2009, "Suzuka Shaved Ice" has been a colorful shaved ice made with a variety of fruits added to a flavored sorbet and layered on pure white shaved ice. Enjoy the various flavors as you eat and mix the whole thing. This year, marking its seventh season, the set will be available in five flavors: matcha, peach, caviar, Yasai Tropical, and berry (1,800 yen each). The new "Yasai Tropical" is based on asparagus and banana ginger-flavored sorbet, topped with low-temperature roasted beets, sweetly simmered purple sweet potato, and nata de coco. Its rich yet refreshing flavor is best enjoyed with coconut-flavored pineapple syrup. Additionally, "Caviar," which combines the rich sweetness of Valrhona chocolate and espresso with the exquisite saltiness of caviar, will be released with an even deeper, more mature flavor.
In addition, once the shaved ice and sorbet have melted to the desired consistency, champagne will be poured over the shaved ice. "Yasai Tropical" and "Caviar" will also be available during dinner time, and a course menu featuring "Yasai Tropical" as an appetizer will also be available.
