Louis Vuitton holds "#MAKEAPROMISE DAY" to support children. Photo event also held at two stores in Japan

On January 12th, Louis Vuitton will hold "#MAKEAPROMISE DAY" in stores around the world to support children in urgent need.

Approximately 250 million children live in countries affected by conflict, and millions more are at risk from natural disasters and rapidly spreading infectious diseases. In January 2016, Louis Vuitton partnered with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) to donate $200 to UNICEF for every sale of a specially crafted Silver Lockit pendant (72,000 yen) or bracelet (60,000 yen). This helped raise $2.5 million for humanitarian aid to save the lives of children in Syria and Nigeria.

On January 12th, "#MAKEAPROMISE DAY" will be held in 460 Louis Vuitton stores in over 60 countries around the world. On the day, 12,000 client advisors will be promoting the Silver Lockit and the #MAKEAPROMISE campaign at each store as supporters of the partnership with UNICEF, "LOUIS VUITTON for UNICEF." Guests will be asked to make a pinky promise with their companion and share it online with the hashtag #MAKEAPROMISE. A special offer will also be available for those who purchase two Silver Lockits.

In Japan, special photo booths will be set up at the Louis Vuitton Matsuya Ginza and Osaka Shinsaibashi stores, and participants will be invited to participate. Using the official Louis Vuitton app, "Louis Vuitton Pass," guests can take photos with UNICEF-colored confetti and share them on social media. "Charity starts close by. Last year, Louis Vuitton thought hard about a symbolic gesture that would bring us together towards a big goal. The #MAKEAPROMISE campaign was inspired by the earnest pinky slash that children make when they make a promise. Children showed us a simple way to change the world. A year after the success of that campaign, Louis Vuitton came up with this idea to keep our promise alive: to mobilize the world to raise funds while raising awareness for children. We believe in the power of words, from person to person. Our goal at Louis Vuitton is to connect with as many people as possible and effect real change."
