KINEEL, a Western confectionery workshop operated by Kogetsu, will begin selling a new summer-only flavor of its signature product, Lefuru: "Lemon Coconut." It will be available at Yokohama Takashimaya on May 27th, followed by the KINEEL official online shop and other limited-time events.
Since its release in 2018, we have sold over 370,000 units. As so many customers have enjoyed it, our desire to create a Lefuru that can be enjoyed in the summertime has grown stronger, leading to the development of this new summer flavor. We used juicy, refreshing lemon, imagining the joy and excitement of eating it under the hot summer sun. We also added coconut as a touch of summery texture.
■Taste
We studied the balance of a gentle acidity and a slight bitterness overall to create a baked confectionery that has a summery "sizzle". While maintaining the harmony of the crispy langue de chat pastry and soft cream that is the hallmark of Lefoul's deliciousness, we added the acidity and slight bitterness of lemon to create a cream that you'll want to eat in the hot summer.
■Packaging
The new yellow packaging lets you feel the refreshing taste of lemon at a glance. The illustration on the packaging expresses the "flower shape" image that is the key to Lefoul's cuteness. Its gorgeous appearance makes it a popular souvenir.
