
"Isetan Zoo and Food Zoo," a pop-up showcasing interior items with animal, plant, and other natural motifs, will be held from January 18th to 24th at Center Park/The Stage #5 on the 5th floor of the Isetan Shinjuku Main Building.
The pop-up will feature animal and plant motifs created by 21 artists who primarily work with textiles, but also tableware, prints, accessories, and more. The lineup includes notable artists such as textile designer Yuri Himuro, amigurumi artist Tomoko Takamori, dyeing studio Mihani Kobo, and print and wire art artist Kazuyo Imai.
Yuri Himuro, a textile designer who studied textiles in Japan and Finland and is currently active in the department store, will be carrying her work for the first time. This time, the pop-up will feature original jacquard-woven textiles, cushions, and fabric panels, all of which are full of ingenious and ingenious features, such as the ability to cut and arrange patterns with scissors. Also noteworthy are the amigurumi made by Takamori Tomoko, who will be exhibiting for the first time in a while. The charming, heartwarming appearance of these amigurumi, created using yarn carefully selected for its color and twisting technique, makes them adorable and appealing pieces that you'll want to keep close by. A wide variety of new pieces will be available, ranging from small keychain-sized pieces to ones measuring approximately 30cm. Also on display will be tableware by artists from around Japan. While the textures and appearances vary, such as the bird-motif plates by Shimamura Hikari, whose pottery studio is located in Togoshi Ginza Shopping Street, and the delicate floral plates by Yajima Misao, the pieces share a common theme of "animals and plants," so you're sure to find tableware that strikes a chord with you. There will also be opportunities to meet artists such as Himuro Yuri and Takamori Tomoko in-store during the exhibition period.
