The cafe and gallery shop "gift_lab GARAGE LOUNGE & EXHIBIT" (1-3-13 Kiyosumi Ryo 102, Shirakawa, Koto-ku, Tokyo) will open on February 7th. The shop was self-renovated from the garage space of an apartment building built around the same time as the Dojunkai Apartments, preserving its 80-year history and charm. It will be available not only as a cafe, but also as a gallery and shop, and will also be open as a rental space for events and exhibitions. Taking advantage of its location in Kiyosumi Shirakawa, home to a contemporary art museum and a gathering place for creatives, the shop plans to host exhibitions, live music concerts, workshops, and more on an irregular basis. As a gallery and shop, gift_lab has previously engaged in various music and art-related activities in Ebisu, Tokyo. In 2012, the company opened "Yamanoya Cafe & Dormitory," a work and lifestyle experimental space, in Tokamachi City, Niigata Prefecture, home of the Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale, one of the world's largest outdoor art festivals.

"gift_lab GARAGE LOUNGE & EXHIBIT" plans to offer homemade meals made with Yamanoya's local vegetables, along with menu items unique to Tokyo. The plan is to propose a "double local" lifestyle, one with two hometowns, one in the city and one in the mountains.
