COUTUME, a pioneer of third-wave coffee in Paris, will open a new cafe at Tamagawa Takashimaya on February 11th. It is available in Japan through Baycruise.
COUTUME receives constant orders from Michelin-starred restaurants and cafes across France. It opened its first store in Aoyama, Tokyo, in April 2014 and its second store in Osaka in December, garnering attention in Japan through various media outlets. The Futakotamagawa store, in particular, will offer menus and services not available at previous stores, based on the theme of "a higher-grade COUTUME." Among these, the store will be selling a limited quantity of premium Geisha coffee beans to coincide with the opening. This premium variety, Geisha, was purchased at an international auction in 2004 for the highest price and is one of the most talked-about varieties in the coffee world. Characterized by a refreshingly sweet and tart flavor, its aroma is reminiscent of floral and citrus aromas.

In addition, the cafe will source unique coffee beans from farms that are particular about everything from soil preparation to cultivation and harvesting, and will carefully hand-brew each cup. From the opening until February 13th, a barista who has won top prizes in the French Barista Championship will be visiting Japan from the main store to serve coffee.

Also, until the 15th, customers who order coffee will receive a ticket that allows them to taste three recommended coffees. What's more, the first 50 customers each day will receive a single original coffee bean as a gift.

The interior design will be handled by CUT architectures, which has worked on well-known commercial facilities and stores both in France and abroad. It is said to be a stylish and comfortable space that evokes a Parisian atmosphere.
