On December 27th, a cafe called "RAIKA" opened on the 5th floor living area of the main building of Isetan Shinjuku, expressing "Japan that connects with the world." The cafe's name incorporates "rai," which means "nature" or "blessing," as the cafe hopes to provide customers with the opportunity to fully enjoy Japanese life with its four seasons, just as they would enjoy seasonal fruit.
The remodeling concept for the living area itself was "living with the seasons," and the cafe's distinctive design incorporates this same theme into its tableware, furniture, and art. Furthermore, the seasons are expressed in the presentation and setting, delighting all five senses of customers. The food menu, including "Normandy-style braised pork shoulder and apple" (1,781 yen), "Duck confit with sweet and sour cream, Treviso granola salad" (1,781 yen), and "Cold sweet and sour cream pasta with cherry tomatoes" (1,781 yen), uses fresh, seasonal fruits. The dessert menu includes "Sweet and sour cream fondant au chocolat" (1,200 yen a la carte, 1,350 yen with coffee or tea), and drinks like "Yuzu Honey Sparkling" (800 yen). The coffee menu also features coffee from Horiguchi Coffee, known for its third wave coffee, and a selection of domestic alcoholic beverages. The restaurant also focused on collaborations with external creators. The producer was Minamoto Kitchoan. Yuka Kuroda, the food coordinator, was in charge of coordinating both the food and tableware. The interior design, created by washi designer Eriko Horiki, incorporates handmade washi paper, which was recently registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, creating a comfortable Japanese space.
The shop allows you to experience the beauty of the four seasons and the craftsmanship of Japan, which is recognized worldwide.
