The NBA and Tiffany have had a long-standing relationship spanning 46 years. Tiffany has designed and produced the Larry O'Brien Trophy since 1977, and evolved the trophy's design into its current form in 2022. Crafted from sterling silver with a gold vermeil finish, the trophy weighs approximately 13.6 kg, stands approximately 65 cm tall, and represents a regulation-sized basketball about to enter the net. Each year, skilled artisans handcraft the Larry O'Brien Trophy and other trophies at Tiffany's hollowware workshop in Cumberland, Rhode Island, using time-honored techniques including spinning, silversmithing, engraving, hand-carving and polishing, a process that takes approximately seven months and 65 hours.
Tiffany has also created other famous basketball trophies, including the Bill Russell NBA Finals MVP Trophy, the WNBA Championship Trophy, and the NBA Eastern and Western Conference Championship Trophies.
