Sakiko Nomura's photo exhibition "flower" is being held at B Gallery in Shinjuku, Tokyo, through March 4th.
Sakiko Nomura began studying under Nobuyoshi Araki, also known as "Araki," in 1991. Since 1993, she has held exhibitions primarily in Tokyo, as well as in Europe and Asia. In 1997, she published her first photo book, "Naked Time," which exposes the fragility and ferocity inherent in men. While she has produced numerous works featuring male nudes, for the Setouchi Triennale in 2013, she photographed 48 elderly people living in Tamano City, Okayama Prefecture. Her photographs capture the beauty she senses in their aging bodies and the journey of life.
This exhibition will feature a selection from Nomura's vast collection of work, including flower photographs, which she has been collecting over the years. The photo book "flower" (2,750 yen) will also be on sale at the venue, and on the 20th from 6pm there will be a talk session featuring Ichika Yoshihiro of Libro Arte, the publisher of the photo book, and the book's designers Machiguchi Kei and Nomura Sakiko.
