Contemporary artist and manga artist Yuichi Yokoyama, who recently contributed artwork to the renovation of the Hermès boutique at Isetan Shinjuku, will be holding an exhibition titled "Yokoyama Yuichi: Gathering of Celebrities and Beasts" at the Kyoto International Manga Museum starting March 6th. This event is supported by PARASOPHIA: Kyoto International Festival of Contemporary Culture 2015, an art festival bringing together world-class artists. During the exhibition, Yokoyama's manga, which he created specifically for the event, will be projected onto the building's walls using projection mapping. In addition, original drawings will be exhibited in a venue that recreates the world of his work, allowing visitors to experience Yokoyama's world in a way that is different from reading it in a book. Also, on March 8th, a live drawing event, "This is Neo Manga," will be held, where visitors can see Yokoyama at work. Visitors can observe Yokoyama working on his manga using his unique techniques in a studio set up within the exhibition venue. Yokoyama is known for his unique style, known as "neo manga." His unique manga, which depicts strangely dressed characters silently carrying out civil engineering work of unknown purpose and engaging in meaningless conversations, has attracted attention from the manga and art worlds both in Japan and overseas. To date, he has released manga collections such as "New Civil Engineering," "Travel," and "The World Map Room," as well as an art book called "Yokoyama Yuichi Color Art Collection."
