Dior will open a pop-up shop on the first-floor stage of the main building of the Isetan Shinjuku store. The shop will run from February 25th to March 3rd. The shop will feature Raf Simons' SS15 ready-to-wear collection, as well as the Japan premiere of the Diorama bag.
Diorama is a bag collection that debuted in the SS15 collection. The bags embody the theme of "looking to the future by dynamically remixing history while building on progress and tradition." They intersect with artistic director Raf's futuristic vision and the 18th-century styles that influenced Dior.
A total of 22 patterns are available, ranging from basic, timeless designs to highly sophisticated ornaments. The diverse designs allow for wardrobe-like coordination. The collection also incorporates the house's iconic cannage (checkerboard) pattern. The motif is the rattan chair that Christian Dior used to welcome customers in his first collection.
It comes in four different sizes. It can be worn in a variety of ways, such as by lengthening the chain it can be worn cross-body, by doubling it and wearing it over the shoulder, or by tucking the chain away and using it like a handbag.
