On January 26th, Dior presented its Spring/Summer 2015 Haute Couture collection at the Musée Rodin in Paris. The theme was "Moonage Daydream." Artistic Director Raf Simons envisioned a time when society was dominated by science fiction, space travel, pop culture, and fashion inspired by the possibilities of the infinite. A guipure lace shift dress, featuring the luxurious motifs characteristic of an haute couture house, was layered with a transparent plastic opera coat featuring a photo print. The collection blended eras from the 1950s to the 1970s, including multi-striped dresses and skirts with intricately pleated, knit jumpsuits and bodysuits with geometric prints, and acid-colored vinyl boots. The past and future intersected, with floral lace embroidery and floral-print dresses worn by the house's signature "flower woman" also featuring geometric cuts.

With David Bowie's voice echoing through the air, mirrors were placed in the octagonal venue, allowing the elements of each era in the collection to clash in vivid contrast, evoking what Raf calls a "dizzying sensation."

"What I really wanted to express was something that learned from the past while incorporating a modern perspective, something that feels relevant to the present. Something wilder, more sexual, and unknown. Something that breaks free from the concepts of haute couture and femininity," said Raf.
