Since its founding, TOD'S has maintained a commitment to Made in Italy craftsmanship, handcrafting each season with authentic leather items. For Spring/Summer 2015, the brand has added the new "TOD'S Cape Bag" (W38 x H29 x D18cm / ¥246,000) to its collection.
Crafted from smooth calf leather in a charcoal brown base, the bag features a botanical print reminiscent of modern art, inspired by Alessandra Facchinetti's theme for the season, "Italian Private Green." It exudes a refined, 1970s retro vibe.
The bag also incorporates elements of saddlery, a design also seen in the Spring/Summer 2015 collection. The gently shaped, curved, organic body is inspired by a riding saddle.
Magnets on both sides of the bag's opening allow it to be easily opened and closed like a petal. The unique shape resembles the "dog-ear" shape of a book's folded pages. The streamlined, functional design is also typical of Tod's.
The Tod's Cape Bag also comes in several other variations, including patchwork and designs featuring floral motifs made with delicate leather cutwork. It is scheduled to be released in February.
