TOD'S, which appointed Andrea Incontri as creative director for Spring/Summer 2015, unveiled its Fall/Winter 2015-16 men's collection in Milan on January 18th. A special replica of architect Philip Johnson's "glass house," featured in the brand's Spring/Summer advertising campaign, was erected in the gardens of Villa Necchi, the venue for the show. The collection featured the brand's iconic Gommino shoe, the new City Spider line. This season, the show followed the same exhibition format as last season, with models waiting in rooms divided by theme. The lineup featured parkas, as well as elegant coats and blousons inspired by aviators. Lightweight and soft materials, such as leather, were the focus, with frisaille, a technique used to create the illusion of trompe l'oeil prints on corduroy and checked fabrics. The collection emphasizes Italian craftsmanship and is aimed at modern jetsetters, with an awareness of overall balance as a luxury brand. Additionally, new lightweight leather bags have been announced, including messengers, gym bags, shopping totes, and backpacks, which have been booming in the Japanese market, up 300% year-on-year. The main shoe line offers sneakers with running shoe soles in classic moccasin, monk strap, and lace-up shapes. The metal motif on the heel is inspired by riding boots. A new line featuring prints and other designs has also been announced for the signature driving icon Gommini.
