The FASHION HEADLINE editorial team introduces the latest breads in this week's Bread of the Week. For our 14th installment, we've picked NATIONAL DEPARTMENT STORE, known for its "edible butter" specialty brand, Canoble!

National Department Store strives to create "one-of-a-kind products, one-of-a-kind experiences" in order to foster a new culture rooted in food. Last year, they opened directly managed stores in Tokyo and Okayama, and now offer a variety of German breads and unique butters at three stores, including their online shop. Their new fall butters will be available from October 16th, adding to the fun items that will further ignite the edible autumn spirit.

For a freshly baked taste, simply heat it in the microwave for 20 seconds, or spray it with water and rebake it in the toaster. To bring out the deliciousness of this bread even more, we recommend trying it with the shop's popular "edible butter." The richness of the flavored butter mellows the sourness of the bread, giving it a deeper flavor. The flavors of the bread and butter complement each other, creating an exquisite balance of flavors.

Canoble "Chocolat Orange Grand Marnier" (1,340 yen)
Canoble is a specialty brand of "edible butter" sold by National Department Stores. The butter is handmade using traditional European home butter-making techniques and comes in a lineup of approximately 40 unique flavors, from classics to seasonal specials. The seasonal flavor "Chocolat Orange Grand Marnier," which went on sale on October 16th, is made by kneading fresh butter with orange juice and chopped couverture chocolate, then topping it with Grand Marnier orange liqueur, for a refreshing and elegant taste.

The cute packaging is also a highlight, and for Halloween, limited edition packaging featuring pop ghosts is now available. We also recommend bringing it as a Halloween party favor and enjoying a variety of butters with everyone!

Among the many varieties of densely textured and satisfying German bread, I chose the plain type. This bread is carefully baked using a sourdough made from naturally fermented German rye, resulting in a rich, tangy flavor.
